A simple familiarity coming across in the planes of hued mood lighting and the sickly sweet smell of rotten hops welcomed their invasion with impunity. Dried, evaporated, left as a sticky residue over everything gluing together the shambles of a trailer on the brink of forfeiture. His presence no matter how soot stricken and stark very rarely raised any attention within the roadhouse; apart from maybe from the bartender who on better days helped send him off with an extra finger of liquor.
Ava…Ava on the other hand in all her solar condition magnetized the glances of everyone in sight. So much so it had Boyd mend to her hip in a rare gesture of unity. Placing out a splay of fingers just behind the curvature of her lower back without touching Boyd guided her to the bar stools waiting for her choice of seating before claiming one as his own.
“You know, only on those days when I need to wash the taste of murder and mayhem from m’ mouth.”

Turning azure gaze in his direction, visage quickly canted. “… really, Boyd?” Rhetorical slipped passed lips, gilded brows heightened at their peaks. They hadn’t even been there five minutes before Boyd had to mention something off color. The mention of murder didn’t quite sit well, and Ava wasn’t exactly interested in listening to him reminisce his commando days. “Ain’t no amount of whiskey gonna wash that out,” she uttered, head shaking as the bartender approached with her requests along with Boyd’s usual.
Draping leather purse straps over hooks just beneath bartop overhang, backs of hands feathered flowing golden locks over slender shoulder span. “How ‘bout we keep conversation somethin’ normal, you know, murder an’ mayhem mention free?” They were there to celebrate the outlaw’s findings of legal placement after all, not to fastidiously dwell over either of their darker times or drown in attrition.
Fingers wrapped around lowball glass and in that instant, Ava speculated whether or not he was even capable of holding an ordinary exchange. “You do know what that is right, a normal conversation?”
