She gestured for the woman to sit and stood across from her. Her eyes never left the woman’s person, seeing not a face or name but the pieces that made up her form. Hair. Skin. Blood. Muscles. Curious though she was about the reasons behind a Crowder under incarceration, her position as a healer took precedence.

A gentle hand reached out to touch the woman’s chin, guiding it to the side to get a better look at the contusion that marred the edge of her mouth. It was an ugly mesh of greens and purples and browns, sharing its age without word.

”Yes,” she replied in near absent-mindedness. “As are you, comparatively. What happened?” Her gaze strayed to the rest of the woman’s form, taking note of the way she cradled herself like a wounded animal. Perhaps that wasn’t too far off the mark.

Taking seat upon sterilized surface, shoulders slumped and azures tapered to lap momentarily. Nurse’s touch averted her attention, corners of eyes wincing. Ava wasn’t really fond of being touched, certainly not by a stranger, but her expression would soften once subconsciously reminded this nurse was not here to hurt her, but to help her.

Fluidly following the motion of escorting manus, her hand descended from tender acromion to lap. Lips frowned with indifference and shrug of sound shoulder followed suit. “Oh, you know,” words softly fell from healing tiers, “not everybody gets along.” Forcing a warm smile, fingers gravitated to gilded locks, tucking loose, shortened strands behind ear. “Ain’t nothin’ really.–”

“– I’m fine.” This woman probably wasn’t going to give her a prescription for oxycontin or percocet as a parting gift; why be honest with her?
