When you run a male slash blog, sometimes female character don’t get the attention or the love they deserve. Especially in a show with so many good female characters as Justified, this is a SHAME!
Since Ava is so often seen in fics with the boys doing the naughty, we’re gonna do the AVA JOINS THE FUN week in the fanfic rec on wedugcoal, as our little International Women’s Day special.
Even as a die hard shipper, I can’t deny I love Ava with all my heart: she’s an angel in our lives, gorgeous as hell.
Here’s for better days to our blonde baby, for less misogyny on the show (even played as jokes!), and for more Rachel, more Ava, more Winona, more Wendy, more Allyson, more Lorettas, more girls who, we hope, get to be different: different body types, different sexualities, different stories, different paths. Girls who are not just allies or girlfriends to our boys, but girls who actually have their own stories and their own ways of surviving.
And, personally, it’s not because I love Ava (that I do) that I hope to see all the girls like her: skinny, blonde, gorgeous, american. Today, let’s hope a great show as Justified, who always brought us so much insight and didn’t took the easy path in playing the stereotype “Hillbillies”, manages to find different ways of showings us women: not just the same women over and over again, but a diversity of girls and mothers and daughters and criminals and law-women.
